This piece relates to a suite of sculptures mentioned previously. It makes me think of alchemy and other things of a mystical nature. However, the truth behind the piece is rather mundane:

It is actually the second half of a wooden carving board my mother bought for me when I was newly married. When it broke in two, I used the first half for a different sculpture and the second for this piece.
