In Lakota spirituality, Wakan Tanka is the name for the great divine or the sacred. This is often translated as the Great Spirit or Great Mystery. I was reading about indigenous mythologies when I worked on this blue suite of pieces. My thoughts were skyward. My concerns were beauty and harmony. It seems very open to me even though it’s a tight composition. They have some drama, but overall, speak of peace.
