I pulled an all-nighter to finish this piece. I failed. Each piece dictates its own time. And I believe each piece lets you know when it is finished. I am often asked: “How do you know when you’re done?” It’s tricky; you have to go by your gut. The answer would never be that my back hurt or that I had gotten a splinter. Like a desert cactus, I do what I have to do in order to survive and thrive.
