I have been photographing bark for about ten years. I find it infinitely fascinating. 

No matter where I am — the desert, Hawaii, Switzerland, Japan — the variety is astounding. My delight is manifest in this piece and in Tree Ring, the following piece. Bark seems very alive to me.
